| The foundation for the painting is built up from geometric shapes added in multiple levels to a base layer. Each work acquires depth and form even before color is added. The placement of the three-dimensional elements evokes the message of each piece. |

Acrylic paint is translucent. Several layers of color are explored, often beginning on the opposite side of the traditional color wheel from the final surface color, and building upward through the spectrum until the intended color is reached. The vibrations from all of the color layers are revealed upward through the last outer layer. This technique of color layering adds an unusual sense of light and life that is not available in works rendered in opaque media. | |
